Uses:
OXYTROL is indicated for the treatment of
OAB with symptoms of urge
urinary incontinence, urgency
and frequency.
Dosing Information:
Apply one OXYTROL twice weekly as directed by the physician. The OXYTROL
comes in one size, OXYTROL 3.9 mg/day. Apply the OXYTROL to clean,
dry, intact, smooth skin on the abdomen, hip, or buttock. Rotate
the application site, and avoid applying more often than once a week
to the same site.
Side Effects:
The most common side effects are:
- Application site reactions
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Dysuria
- Abnormal vision
Skin Care and Adhesive Residue from the Patch:
Counsel patients to put patch on a clear, dry, and smooth (fold-free)
area of the skin. Do not put OXYTROL on an area that has been
treated with oils, lotions,
or powders that could keep the patch from sticking well to the skin. After
the patient removes the patch, tell them to gently wash the
application site with
warm water and mild soap to remove any adhesive that stays on the skin.
A small amount of baby oil may be used to remove any excess residue.
If the patient
develops a ring of adhesive that becomes dirty, you may need
to remove it with a medical
adhesive removal pad. Alcohol or other dissolving liquids (nail polish
remover or other solvents) may cause skin irritation and should not be
used.
Storage:
OXYTROL should be stored at room temperature
(77° F) and away from moisture and humidity. Do not store outside
of
the sealed pouch. Apply immediately
after removal from protective pouch. Discard OXYTROL in household trash
in a manner
that prevents accidental application or ingestion by children, pets,
or others.
